This policy explains our privacy practices on BridgetoBiz.com and Bridge To Biz-branded mobile applications. We refer to the BridgetoBiz.com website and our Bridge To Biz-branded mobile applications as, collectively, the “Service.”
This Privacy Statement is incorporated into our User Agreement, which also applies when you use the Service.
By using the Service, you acknowledge that Bridge To Biz will use your information in the United States.
Personal and Non-personal Information That We Collect
Information Collected Automatically by the Service
Bridge To Biz automatically receives and records information from your browser or your mobile device when you visit our website or use our mobile application, such as your IP address or unique device identifier, hardware model, operating system information, app version, and data about which pages you visit in order to allow us to operate and provide the Service. This information is collected automatically and is stored in log files. We regard this as personal information.
We may combine this information from your browser or your mobile device with other information that we collect about you, including across devices. We use this information to prevent fraud and to keep the Service secure, to analyze and understand how the Service works for Members and Visitors, and to provide advertising, including across your devices, and a more personalized experience.
Information That You Provide Voluntarily
Visitors to the Service (persons who do not register) are not asked to provide any personal information. However, as noted below, Bridge To Biz automatically will receive and process certain information simply by virtue of a Visitor’s browser accessing our Service. This may include an Internet Protocol address or an email address. We do not store this information.
To create a Member account, we ask you to provide certain information to develop a user profile. This information may include your name, your gender, your address, your email address, other contact information (such as a telephone number and/or mobile number), and your work experience. This information enables us to provide the Service and allows you and we to manage your account and protect against abuse of the Service. We also record the date and time that you register. You can edit or remove certain aspects of this information via your account page, but we must retain certain information in order for you to remain a Member. We collect and store this personal information for our internal use to operate the website, and for other purposes as described below.
By registering and providing personal information, you enable us to offer you features of the Service that may be offered only to Registered Members.
You have choices about what information to provide on your profile, such as your education, work experience, skills, photo, general location, and endorsements. While not all of this information is required, this information helps you to get more from our Service. For example, this information helps recruiters and business opportunities to find you. While we offer certain controls to allow you to restrict who can access your profile, you generally should not add personal information or post content to your profile that you would not want to be available to others.
We allow you to provide other data to us, such as by syncing your address book or calendar. However, we do not do so without your affirmative consent. If you opt to import your address book, we receive your contacts (including contact information that your service provider(s) or app automatically added to your address book when you communicated with addresses or numbers not already in your r). By syncing your contacts or calendars with our Service, you give us tools to help expand your network by suggesting connections for you and others, and by providing information about them, e.g. times, places, attendees and contacts.
For features of our Service that require payment, we require you to provide payment information (including billing contact name, address, telephone number, credit card information). This information is necessary in order for us to process and record the payment.
Posting and Uploading
We collect personal information from you when you provide, post or upload content, photographs, comments or other information to our Service.
You and others may post content that includes information about you (as part of articles, posts, comments, videos) on our Service. With your [opt-in] consent, we collect public information about you, such as professional-related news and accomplishments (e.g., patents granted, professional recognition, conference speakers, projects, etc.) and make it available as part of our Service.
We may receive personal information about you when you use the Service to make use of the services of other Members, such as recruiters, employers, and prospective employers. This is an inherent feature of the Service.
We use data analytics to ensure site functionality and improve the Service. We also use data analytics to identify and suggest job opportunities to you.
We use mobile analytics software to allow us to understand the functionality of the mobile applications on your mobile device and improve our Service. Our analytics software receives a user’s email address in order to identify registered Members, and also receives a user’s Internet Protocol address, which provides us with certain location information.
Cookies, Web Beacons and Other Similar Technologies
Your Device and Location
Because of how the Internet works, when you visit or leave our Service, we receive the URL of both the site you came from and the one you go to next. We also get information about your IP address, proxy server, operating system, web browser and add-ons, device identifier and features, and/or ISP or your mobile carrier. If you use our Service from a mobile device, that device will send us data about your general location based on your phone settings. We will not use GPS to identify your precise location without your prior opt-in consent.
If you communicate through our Services, we collect information about you when you send, receive, or engage with messages in connection with our Services.
Workplace and School Provided Information
When others, such as your employer, purchase a Membership for your use, they may provide us with personal data about you and your eligibility to use the Service that they purchase.
How We Use And Process Your Personal Information
We use the personal information we collect for various purposes, including to:
- authorize access by registered Members to our Service;
- provide the Service, including by making your profile information available to Members and Visitors according to your settings;
- improve our Service, and identify, develop and offer new or expanded Service;
- communicate with you through email, mobile phone, notices posted on our website or mobile application, messages to your Bridge To Biz inbox, and other ways through our Service, including text messages.
- allow you to contact other Members of the Service and to communicate with them, according to your settings and theirs;
- provide you with updates if you choose to receive them;
- respond to your questions, comments, feedback or inquiries;
- compile aggregated or anonymized user information for research and analytical purposes;
- track the number of visitors, both registered and not registered, to the Service;
- manage our everyday business needs, such as administration of the Service, fraud prevention, and enforcement of our User Agreement, or to comply with applicable laws; and
- contact individuals identified as a point of contact via phone or email in order to respond to requests and provide individuals with updates, new items, meetings and special event announcements, and any other information to which they may have subscribed.
Bridge To Biz is supported by advertising. We will market to you on our Service, and will allow others to buy advertising space on our Service. We may present advertising to you based on your profile information and job interests and how you have used our Service. We offer you choices regarding what advertising you may see, which you can control at your settings.
We do not track you across other websites outside of our Service, and we do not allow Internet advertising networks to serve personalized or targeted advertising on our Service.
We use data and content about Members for invitations and communications promoting engagement and our Service.
We do not share your personal data with any third-party advertisers or ad networks for their advertising except: (i) with your separate permission (e.g., to be shared with prospective employers) or (ii) data already visible to any users of the Services (e.g. profile). However, if you view or click on an ad on or off our Service or mobile application, the ad provider will get a signal that someone visited the page that displayed the ad, and they may through the use of mechanisms such as cookies determine it is you. You may restrict our sharing of personal data via your settings.
Security and Investigations
How We Share Information
Bridge To Biz is a social media platform. Other Members or Visitors can see the personal information that you include on your profile and any content you post or social action you take on our Service.
You can adjust who can view your information through your account settings. You can choose to allow your personal information to shown publicly, to your followers, or shown only to you.
If your employer has provided you with access to our Service, your employer can review and manage your use of such Service.
We do not share personal information with third parties for their direct marketing purposes without your consent. However, advertisers (whether they are Members or not) may see your personal information on the Service (such as your profile) depending upon the extent to which you have made that information visible.
We will share aggregated or anonymized information about our Members with advertisers to help them understand our Membership and to assist them in determining what advertising we may make available to our Members.
We use others to help us provide our Service (e.g., maintenance, analysis, audit, payments, fraud detection, marketing and development). They will have access to aggregated or non-personal information, and to personal information as reasonably necessary to perform these tasks on our behalf. Our service providers are obligated not to disclose or use it for other purposes.
It is possible that we will need to disclose personal information about you when required by law, subpoena, or other legal process or if we have a good faith belief that disclosure is reasonably necessary to (1) investigate, prevent, or take action regarding suspected illegal activities or to assist government enforcement agencies; (2) enforce our legal agreements with you, (3) defend ourselves against any third-party claims; (4) protect the security or integrity of our Service; or (5) exercise or protect the rights and safety of Bridge To Biz, our Members, personnel, or others. We attempt to notify Members about legal demands for their personal information when appropriate in our judgment, unless prohibited by law or court order or when the request is an emergency.
Change in Control or Sale
We retain your personal information while your Member account is in effect or as needed to provide the Service. This includes information you or others provided to us and information generated by your use of our Service.
In the event you close your account, your profile will no longer be available to other Members or Visitors. However, personal information you have shared with others (e.g., through messages) will remain visible after you closed your account or deleted the information from your own profile or mailbox. Your profile may continue to be displayed in the services of others (e.g., search engine results) until they refresh their cache.
If you close your account, we may retain certain information for a reasonable amount of time to ensure that we comply with our obligations and to fulfill our legal rights and responsibilities.
Rights to Access and Control Your Personal Data
You have the following choices about how your personal information is collected, used and shared.
- Delete: You can ask us to erase or delete all or some of your personal information. However, if you delete all of your information, we will be unable to continue to provide the Service to you as a Member.
- Change or Correct: You can edit some of your personal information through your account.
- Right to Portability: You can ask us for a copy of your personal information.
We implement security safeguards designed to protect our Service and our Members’ personal information. Unfortunately, we cannot warrant the security of any information that you provide to us and there is no guarantee that information may not be accessed, disclosed, altered, or destroyed by breach of any of our physical, technical, or managerial safeguards.
California Privacy Rights
Under California Civil Code section 1798.83, California residents who have an established business relationship with us are entitled to ask us for a notice describing the type of Personal Information we have shared with third parties for those parties’ direct marketing purposes during the preceding calendar year. We do not share personal information with third parties for those parties’ direct marketing purposes.
Direct Marketing and Do Not Track Signals
Currently, we do not alter our information collection and use practices in response to Do Not Track signals from Internet browsers.
If we transfer your personal information from the United States, we will request your consent.
Lawful Bases for Processing
We will only collect and process personal information about you where we have lawful bases for doing so. Lawful bases include consent (where you have given consent), contract (where processing is necessary for the performance of a contract with you (e.g. to deliver the Bridge To Biz Service you have requested)) and our “legitimate interests” as the provider of the Service.
Where we rely on your consent to process personal data, you have the right to withdraw or decline your consent at any time.
